Cascata dos Anjos
Cascata dos Anjos is a spectacular waterfall going over the old highway ER 101 and is located just outside Ponta do Sol on the island Madeira, Portugal.
When driving west from Ribeira Brava to Madalena do Mar (on road VE3) take the exit (at a roundabout) Ponta do Sol. Don’t go into the tunnel. It is a small road along the sea. After 1,8 kilometer a waterfall runs over the road and the car gets a shower. The road is very narrow at Cascata dos Anjos and there is no place to stop (maybe when there is no traffic).
A little back there is a place to park your car at a house (gps 32.684983, -17.111233), but you have to walk a few hundred meters.
Best view on the waterfall is when you drive a little further, passing Cascata dos Anjos, and the look back.
Because there is no official river I think the waterfall isn’t flowing all year around, only after a rainy period.
My absolutely favorite waterfall. Also called car wash fall because it falls right on to a rural road. Most cars going here stop for a few seconds to clean the car.
Great to freshen up with a shower. There’s sunshine in the afternoon.
