Cascata Santa Barbara
Cascata Santa Barbara is a waterfall at the viewpoint “Miradouro de Santa Barbara”, near Santa Barbara in the Island of Terceira (Azores), Portugal.
I never knew that there was a waterfall but driving on the main road along the coast we wanted some nice pictures of the coast. After a short drive from the main road there was a marvelous viewpoint and a dust road going down with so many man made stairs (concrete). This is one big piece of art how they made this. From the top of Cascata Santa Barbara you can walk down to a better viewpoint choosing your own route of stairs. It made me think of the Dutch artist “Escher”.
You can walk the wat down to the water where you have the best view on Cascata Santa Barbara. Back at the top there was a wedding going on near a sort of Arena. Very nice to see.
The waterfall is approximately 20 meter high and is a low stream waterfall. Probably in a dry season there is no water in the river. Luckily it rains a lot on Terceira!
