Skjervsfossen

(Skjervefossen, Skervefossen)

Skjervsfossen/Skjervefossen, Spildo-Moo, HordalandSkjervsfossen is a big and beautiful waterfall not far from Voss in the region Hordaland, Norway.

The R13 is one of the main touristic roads in Norway. Don’t forget to take a short detour from road Rv13, driving from Granvin to Voss. Take the exit to Seim and after 3,6 km you already have the first view on the amazing Skjervsfossen (also known as Skjervefossen).

When it is busy park the car at the parking at the top of the waterfall. Don’t forget to go to the toilet there, you will be surprised!!!

In ten years time a lot has changed at Skjervsfossen. Beside the toilet there is a nice path along the waterfall going to the base. The path is suitable for children and is made safe with a fence. The best view you have from the base of the waterfall.

Skjervsfossen has two major drops and is in total 150 meter heigh. The stage at the parking is the most impressive part (the upper part) with a single drop of 60 meter.

If you want to see the upper and lower part together, drive up towards Voss. I a sharp curve in the road you have an awesome view on the upper and lower part of Skjervsfossen.

I visited the waterfall three times: first 4 pictures are taken at the beginning of June, a decade ago. Picture 5-7 are taken in July also long ago. The last pictures are taken at the end of April 2015.

Not far from the Skjervsfossen you will also find other waterfalls worthwhile to visit: the Skarvefossen, an extremely powerful waterfall and the Espelandsfossen with a height of 100 meters.
