Cascata do Poço do Bacalhau

Cascata do Poço do Bacalhau is a tall waterfall near Fajã Grande on the island Flores (Azores) which is part of Portugal.

Cascata do Poço do Bacalhau is already visible from far away. When driving on the main road ER1-2 on the west side of the island take the left turn to Fajãzinha and further to Fajã Grande. Probably you will see already a lot of waterfalls coming down the mountains. In Fajã Grande drive towards the sea and go right onto estrada da Ponta. Now you have a good view on several waterfalls from which the right one is Cascata do Poço do Bacalhau.

Park your somewhere possible near the small bridge (gps 39.459168, -31.258531). There is a path along the river going to the base of the waterfall.

It is unbelievable how many waterfalls there are at the west side of Flore, especially in a wet period. Flores is definitely high on my wishlist to explore and to chase waterfalls.
